Beyond the Bio
This blog post is going to be a little different, where instead of discussing a mental health or coaching topic, I’ll be talking a bit about myself. Why this matters: it might not, really, because you could read my About section on my website if inclined. But since you’re here, why not! Truly though, I do think it’s important for me to be open about who I am, especially since building connection and security is crucial for a healthy coaching relationship. So I want to offer a little more of myself than what you’d find in the standard bio—because, in my experience, connection is built through sharing, and that’s what I’m aiming to do here.
Humor and curiosity are two values (of many) that I align my actions with, both in my daily life and inside my coaching relationships. I like to ask a lot of questions, solve problems, and learn–I’m always looking for something to discover. Likewise, I love intertwining humor into my conversations and writing, because who said self-discovery has to be so serious?! Obviously, used when appropriate. I’m also a huge proponent of self-compassion (if you’ve looked at anything that I’ve posted or written, you would know this). To give a bit of my history with self-compassion, I was introduced to it while working as a program coordinator for a non-profit organization. Our program’s main focus was bringing attention to suicide prevention and intervention through workshops and trainings. We began exploring different ideas for building resilience against suicide and through that, found the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion. I’ve taken (and led!) numerous workshops on mindfulness and self-compassion since then, and I love to teach others about it. Personally, it’s helped me cope as I’ve gone through major burnout, a divorce, move, job transition, and chronic illness. Self-compassion has given me the best relationship I’ve had with myself (and it can do the same for you, too). Don’t get me wrong, I still struggle with life stressors from time to time, but where I am now from where I was is immeasurable.
I started Inner Haven to give myself the freedom to coach on my own schedule. I love coaching women on meeting their inner critic with kindness and transforming how they view themselves and others. When women are understood, held, and gently pushed, we evolve into the most at-peace version of ourselves that we’ve ever known. And we do that, together. That’s my passion and “why” I coach–the most important relationship in your life is the one you have with yourself, so make it one where you thrive.
In sharing a bit about myself, I hope you feel a deeper sense of connection and understanding of who I am, both as a person and as a coach. Coaching is about more than just tools and techniques; it’s about relationships, trust, and authenticity. I’m here to walk alongside you in your journey of self-discovery and self-compassion, and I believe that when we approach ourselves with kindness, we open the door to meaningful growth! Get excited to continue sharing and growing together.
